About

Hi Everyone! ~ My name is Bree.  I am in my 20’s and am differently abled. I have cerebral palsy. I was born in California at 27 weeks and weighed 1 lb. 14oz.  (I was a peanut)  A few days after my birth I had a grade four brain hemorrhage. The veins in my brain (hey that rhymes) were so tiny they just burst. The blood damaged parts of my brain that affects my arms and legs.  My muscles are stiff but I use a walker to get around.  I need help with personal care and dressing (and sometime that stinks because I want to do it all myself).  I can talk, use a computer and get around pretty good. I graduated high school and am now at home and working with a facilitator to find volunteer work or something productive – because I hate being bored.  I love my music – it’s my life. I enjoy all types including pop & soft rock, hip-hop, techno, new county, movie scores, along with artist like John Mayer, James Morrison, Michael Buble and Josh Groban (aaahhhh!!) Concerts are cool!  A favorite activity is cooking (mostly because I Love to eat!) but really enjoy anything involving food!  For exercise I ride a stationary bike (motivated by Chris Powell – thank you) and love to swim.  I also road horses for 15 years at Thorncroft.  I am also obsessed with meeting celebrities like Mario Lopez, Lauren Alaina, Jake Owen, Rascal Flatts, Straight No Chases, Emeril – and the list goes on and on! (So Fun!)

So you might be asking why I stated a blog? (I am asking myself the same thing).  Seriously I wanted a place to share my thoughts, frustrations, happy dances with others like myself, and just talk about the challenges of having a disability.  I am mostly a positive person, but every so often I have “mini breakdowns” (that what me and my mom call them).  I hope this is a place that differently abled young adults, or anyone that wants to comment, will feel comfortable to talk to one another and share your experience.  Hopefully we can help each other.  Hope to hear from you!
