Montana

Last month In November we had a visitor from California who came to stay with us. He’s a tiny guy with a very small head and a lot of hair. You might think I’m talking about a person, but this is actually my sister’s little rescue dog, Montana – who starred in her Doritos commercial. Here’s the link if you want to take a look. It’s so funny!   https://crashthesuperbowl.doritos.com/video/4365

Brooke was coming out of a restaurant one day and a Rescue Agency had an adoption event just a few steps away.  She saw this adorable little pup and knew she had to have him.  She filled out the application and was approved and brought him home that day!!!  She named him Montana because that was the name of the street where they found each other!
Brooke bought Montana to stay with us from Thanksgiving until new Years, but he may even stay a little longer.  My golden retriever Bancroft was not quite sure what to do with his new little brother. He growled a couple of times when Montana ran around his head and tried to play with him.  Bancroft seems like he’s beginning to like him now. He’s super cute and super fast he looks like a King Charles Cavalier mix. He runs 100 miles per hour throughout our House. He has the sweetest little face and personality. I like when he sleeps in my room.  He also likes to nap with Dennis and Bancroft!

He loves to play with his toys. They are all over the house. He flips and tosses them runs after them. Montana also loves to play ice hockey. That’s when we toss a couple of ice cubes on the floor and he chases them and slides them around.  And then he eventually eats them.  We drressed them in their USC gear for game day…and they were both waiting patiently  for a treat!

When we are giving him a treat, sometimes he stands on his hind legs and balances himself for a minute or so. It looks like he dancing! When he tries to play with Bancroft, he gets up on his hind legs and puts his front paws on Banks. It’s so cute like he’s trying to hold onto him.  Last week Kay & I gave Montana a bath in my walk
-in-shower.  He was a little scared at first, but liked the warm water!

He seems to like everyone at our house and exploring our neighborhood.    I am so glad that my sister rescued him in LA and saved from a kill shelter! And am also SO excited that he is staying at our house for a while!!

Holiday Movie Marathon

images

Around this time of year, I love to pull out my holiday movies and just veg out and sit in front of my TV. A few of my old favorites from when I was younger include Eloise at Christmas Time (who is hilarious with her adventures), The Santa Clause 1,2 & 3, Polar Express (Ring that jingle bell), and of course Elf. Who doesn’t laugh at Will Farrell all the way though the entire movie!!! My favorite scene from that one is when he was eating a spaghetti dinner at his father’s house and he used sugar, chocolate & maple, syrup, marshmallows, M&M’s, and Pop tarts on top of it. I read that he had headaches and could not sleep from all the sugar he had to eat while filming!! But he was the Best!

Other Christmas romantic comedies that I love to watch are I’ll be Home for Christmas with Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Holiday in Handcuffs (with handsome Mario). My absolute two favorites are Serendipity and The Holiday. I love the New York streets in the first and Amanda’s (Cameron Diaz’s) house in the second. Both will make you laugh & cry (even though Amanda can’t cry!) and wish it was Christmas all the time!

Tea Time!

Do you ever feel like sitting in a big comfy chair and sipping a cup of warm soothing tea? Well….This is one of my favorite things to do!  I have a few favorites and they are actually good either hot or cold.  The first I recommend is Vanilla Chi by Stash.  I bought mine at Wegmans.  You can taste the black tea with hints of cinnamon, ginger root, allspice, vanilla and clove.  It’s like dessert in a cup ~ and low cal! My next favorite is Trader Joes Candy Cane Green Tea. It is a blend of peppermint, vanilla, and cinnamon with green tea. This one is only available around the holidays.  If you try it and like it ~ stock up now!  Another standby we always have in the house is Mango Passionfruit, also by Stash.  This one is fruity and flavorful.  It makes a great ice tea in the summer!  They are all decaf –So they won’t make you buzzy!  Let me know your favorites. Enjoy!

Palooza Holiday Luncheon

Palooza Holiday Lunch!

I belong to a group called Palooza. It is a social group. That provides activities and programing for young adults with disabilities. I have participated in Book Club, Craft Night, Game Night and Cooking and some social outings. It was started by two really nice moms and has grown and is really fun. Yesterday I attended a luncheon at Cedar Brook Country Club. My Mom and friend Helen came with me. It is held by ladies from the club, and the profits go to Palooza! They had really neat baskets (which I didn’t win L and entertainment. The “Notables” an A Cappella group from the Haverford Boys School sang holiday songs. They did a great job. Their last song was just like an arrangement from “Straight No Chasers” (My favorite (A Cappella group). It was 12 Days Of Christmas. It was funny!  Katie who is a member of Palooza brought Christmas Light Up necklaces for all of us at the table.  Our table was Lit up!

If you want to know more about Palooza you can look it up at my mypalooza.org. You can also check out Straight No Chaser’s at sncmusic.com. I think you might both!

The Last Ship

This past summer, I watched the second season of a TV show called The Last Ship on TNT. It’s about a virus that spread around the entire world. There is a navy ship that went to the Artic to get some samples from primordial birds, so they could use this to help find a cure.  The crew on the ship is safe.  It is very interesting and I was always on the edge of my seat. Some of my favorite characters are Eric Dane who plays the captain, and a guy named Tex whose character was still alive on Guantanamo Bay. He’s not afraid of any situation and the captain asks him to joins the crew. What is really interesting is that the first summer it aired there were news reports of a breakout of the Ebola virus in Liberia, Africa.  It was like learning about something that is actually happening in the world.  Right now I am looking forward to next summer because it has been picked up for a third season.  If you missed season one and two you can catch up “On Demand” so you will be ready to sail away for season 2.
